I knew there was a God, but I did not know God. Then came the phone call every mother dreads — and the moment I fell to my knees.
Hi, my name is Christina, and this is my story of how I found peace through the most painful of times.
I knew there was a God, but I did not know God. I drank every day, and way too much. I was not living a good life, and I had little to no joy as a result. In 2020 I stopped drinking, and my husband and I decided to move away from the town we were living in. We finally found ourselves in Parsons, Tennessee. In early 2021 we started going to Salem Baptist Church regularly. I began reading the Bible every day, and I was in church every time the doors were open.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
ROMANS 10:13In July 2021 I received a phone call that my 28-year-old son had passed away. I fell to my knees and cried out to God. Over the next few days, as I struggled to process the death of my son, I asked Jesus to come into my heart and save me.
From then on, I have tried to follow Jesus as closely as I can. At Salem Baptist Church I became a Sunday school teacher for children. I have been to Africa on two mission trips, taking the love of Jesus around the world. The Lord has changed my heart and allowed me to find peace, though I still grieve the loss of my son. I have found a wonderful joy in ministering to children around the world.
